Bondage Candles – All You Need to Know

Dripping hot wax on to your partner may sound more like torture than pleasure, but when done correctly, the heat and sensation of the hot melted wax sensitises the skin, leaving your partner ready for all manner of sexual play.

Safety first

It may seem a little silly to be mentioning fire, but the heat of passion can be matched by real flames in seconds, if you don’t take sensible precautions when using bondage candles. Make sure candles are always burned in heat proof receptacles and not left near draped voile curtains or a box of tissues, which could easily catch fire if the candle topples over. Accidents can and do happen, so please be super careful.

Getting started

Before using melted wax on your partner always test the temperature of the candle wax on yourself first. It’s easy to drip a little wax on to your forearm first, just as a precaution, and without ruining the mood. Then test a couple of drops on your partner to get them accustomed to the feeling, before pouring wax on to them. If you’ve never tried using bondage candles before, then it’s vital to take these steps first as some people have no idea that the hot wax may make them freak out, until they try it. You also need to be aware that your submissive is going to feel the wax is hotter especially if he or she is bound, blindfolded, vulnerable, and quivering. Every sensation is going to feel really intense.

Setting the scene

Wax is far more versatile than many people think and once you and your partner feel comfortable using it, then you can experiment with different scenes. When you first start, it’s best to drip from a distance of around 30cms; remember the further away that you hold the wax the cooler it will feel when it lands, and the closer that you drip the wax onto the body, then it will feel hotter. Dripping on different areas of the body also creates different sensations. Some people find the warmth of the wax on their backs to be very relaxing, whereas on the front, it’s too intense. Experiment and get to know your partner’s body and how the wax feels on various areas. To intensify the sensation, then let the wax pool at the top of the candle as this significantly increases the temperature of the wax and as a result it feels hotter when it’s on your partner’s skin.

Try different things
Once you’ve got more accustomed to using wax then you could try flicking the candle so as to splash your partner with wax to heighten their senses or add a blindfold and/or restraints for an experience which is far more intense. To introduce more temperature play, you can try using an ice block or cold spoon that’s been left in the fridge, before or after dripping wax on to the skin.
